Mould Toxicity, CIRS and Environmental Recovery
Chapter Chapter 17
Duration 14 months
Status Resolved
Before Eight months of missed periods.
After Fourteen months to full recovery.
The Story

CIRS and Environmental Recovery.

Rachel was 35 when her health unravelled. Anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, brain fog, and eventually the loss of her menstrual cycle for eight months. The trigger was moving into a new rental property. Nobody connected her symptoms to the environment until we tested for it.

Mycotoxin testing revealed seven times the normal level of ochratoxin A, four times the normal level of gliotoxin, and five times the normal level of citrinin. Genetic testing confirmed she carried a mould-susceptible HLA haplotype, meaning her immune system was genetically unable to clear these biotoxins efficiently. Her body had been accumulating them since the day she moved in.

Diagnostics

What we tested. And what we found.

Every protocol in The Healing Hierarchy starts with comprehensive testing. The right tests reveal the actual drivers. Without them, you're treating symptoms.

Tests Used Key Findings
HLA-DR/DQ
Mould-susceptible haplotype

Ochratoxin A
12.5
Normal range : < 1.8

The Protocol

Sequenced,  not stacked.

The phases are deliberate. Each one prepares the system for the next. Doing them out of order, or all at once, is where most protocols fail.

Phase 1
Environmental Remediation — Non-Negotiable
Month 1

Moved out of contaminated rental property

Discarded soft furnishings, clothing, porous items showing mould growth

Phase 2
Eradicate MARCoNS
Weeks 1-8

BEG nasal spray (Bactroban + EDTA + Gentamicin) to break down biofilms

Retest at Week 8: MARCoNS negative

Phase 3
Bind and Eliminate Mycotoxins
Weeks 1-16

Binder rotation dosed throughout the day, away from food and supplements

Phase 4
Clear Fungal Overgrowth
Weeks 1-12

Monolaurin

Botanical antimicrobial blend

Biofilm-disrupting enzymes between meals

Saccharomyces boulardii

Spore-based probiotics

Phase 5
Support Detox Pathways
Ongoing

Liposomal glutathione

Alpha-lipoic acid

Liver support (milk thistle)

Methylated B-complex

Phase 6
Restore Hypothalamic Function
Month 10+

VIP nasal spray (after MARCoNS clearance confirmed)

Result: sleep improved within 2 weeks, period returned Month 12

Phase 7
Immune Rebalancing and Lifestyle
Ongoing

Shoemaker low-amylose diet

Morning sunlight: 15-30 min daily

Duration 14 months

Markers  back to baseline.

The biomarkers tell the story. Every value moved from "abnormal" to "optimal" within six months of the protocol going live.

Ochratoxin A, Gliotoxin, Citrinin
Normal Healthy ✓
MARCoNS
Negative Healthy ✓
C4a, MMP-9, MSH, VIP
Normalised Healthy ✓
Candida and Aspergillus
Cleared Healthy ✓
CRP
0.5 Optimal ✓
Period
Returned after 8 months of absence Healthy ✓

Brain fog lifted. Energy returned. Panic attacks resolved. Could enter normal buildings without relapsing.
